The University of Palermo and its Department of Engineering will be hosting the 10th EWSHM. The plenary lectures will be held in the Aula Magna of the Department of Engineering (Building 7), the most prestigious auditorium of the School and able to seat comfortably more than 500 people. The Aula Magna accommodates the most important events organized by the Department of Engineering, including the graduation ceremonies and the visits of dignitaries. The Building 19, just across the street from the Aula magna, will host the parallel sessions. The building contains 12 auditorium-like classrooms, each able to seat 100+ people.

The Department of Engineeringl is conveniently located near the city center and 15 minutes walking distance from the Arab-Norman Palermo Itinerary. This itinerary was included in 2015 in the UNESCO World Heritage list http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1487. The itinerary includes a series of nine civil and religious structures dating from the era of the Norman kingdom of Sicily (1130-1194): two palaces, three churches, a cathedral, a bridge, as well as the cathedrals of CefalĂș and Monreale. Collectively, they are an example of a social-cultural syncretism between Western, Islamic and Byzantine cultures on the island, which gave rise to new concepts of space, structure and decoration.
