SPECIAL ISSUES

Sensors

Authors of outstanding papers related to: “smart” sensors, sensors for extreme environments, MEMS/NEMS sensors, fiber optics, piezoelectric, magneto-electric sensors, CNT sensors, etc. are invited to submit an extended version of their work for a special issue to be published in the Sensors journal. The title of the special issue is “Sensors Applications in Structural Health Monitoring”. More information are available at: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/EWSHM2022

JVC

A Special Issue of the Journal of Vibration and Control https://journals.sagepub.com/home/jvc  (Guest Editors: Annamaria Pau, Wieslaw Ostachowicz, Piervincenzo Rizzo) on Ultrasonic Guided Waves for Structural Health Monitoring is in preparation. The submissions are open and will close on the 31st of October 2022. The papers will be subjected to the usual review process.

This SI aims to collect recent research addressing the propagation of waves in solids and waveguides, specifically to structural health monitoring (SHM). A wide range of phenomena will be covered, including, but not limited to: linear and nonlinear behaviour; acoustoelastic effect; isotropic and anisotropic materials; 1D, 2D and 3D models; time or frequency analysis; experimental and numerical approaches. Novel techniques proposed should consider efficient local and global SHM investigations to perform diagnostic (damage size estimation, damage type recognition and location, stress monitoring). Combining the proposed techniques should potentially lead to innovative approaches to structural safety management.

Keywords: guided waves, SHM, damage detection, signal processing, damage imaging, ultrasonic waves, acoustoelasticity, sensors, nonlinear ultrasounds

To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion in the special issue, you must select Ultrasonic Guided Waves for Structural Health Monitoring when selecting the article type in the submission process.
